Murray County VINE Coverage
Minnesota DOC's custody-notification page assigns county-jail release notices to Minnesota VINE. That makes VINE relevant when a person is held by Murray County Jail or by another participating county jail. Murray County also boards some prisoners at Lyon County Jail. The agency named on a VINE record therefore matters as much as the person's name. A Murray arrest can lead to a Lyon custody record, and a closed Murray booking does not by itself prove release to the community.
VINE is a specific-person service, not a historical release list. It can show a custody status received from a participating agency and provide notice of a later custody change. Records and wording depend on the agency's feed and the current interface. A person may cease to be searchable after release. For older proof, request the existing admission, release, discharge, or transfer entry from the jail that physically held the person.
County custody and state custody must stay separate. A person held only for a local arrest or misdemeanor jail term will not normally belong in the DOC Public Viewer because there was no commitment to the Commissioner. By contrast, a Murray County defendant given an executed prison sentence enters the statewide DOC system. VINE can report the county-jail event that came first, but the later prison status and supervision belong to DOC. This boundary prevents a VINE no-result from being mistaken for proof that no custody exists.
Search Murray County VINE Records
Begin at the official VINELink service and select Minnesota. Use the strongest identifier available. A booking or offender number is more precise than a common name, but the live interface controls which fields can be entered. Compare the custody agency, age or birth details, middle name, and other visible identifiers before opening a record. Never register against the first similar name.
- Select Minnesota in VINELink and choose the person or custody search offered by the current screen.
- Enter the full name. Add the booking or offender identifier when the interface allows it.
- Review all possible matches and compare identity details plus the agency holding the record.
- Open the correct record. Read the status and agency timestamp in the exact terms shown.
- If the result says released, save the notice details and ask the physical jail whether the event was community release or transfer.
No result is inconclusive. It can reflect spelling, an agency data delay, removal of an old record, a transfer, or a custody system outside VINE. Call both Murray and Lyon when boarding may have occurred. The full named-person fallback is also set out on the Murray County released inmate search.
Note: Match the custody agency and more than one identifier before treating a VINE result as belonging to the intended person.
Murray VINE Release Fields
The labels in a VINE record can change with the vendor interface and the participating agency. Treat each field as an observation, not as a broad legal conclusion. A custody status reflects what the jail supplied. A date may show when an event occurred or when the record changed. Neither should be recast as proof that all holds, warrants, or cases ended.
| Field | What it can establish |
|---|---|
| Name and identifier | Helps distinguish the selected person from similar names. |
| Custody agency | Shows which participating jail supplied the record, such as Murray or Lyon. |
| Custody status | Reports the agency's current status term, which must be read exactly. |
| Event date or timestamp | Places the reported custody change in time, subject to feed lag. |
| Notification controls | Shows the delivery choices offered for that record at registration. |
A released label can support the conclusion that physical custody at the named jail ended. It does not state the destination unless the record provides one. Murray's documented use of Lyon County makes that limit important. Ask whether the person left for the community, returned to Murray, entered DOC custody, or moved to another authority.
The same caution applies to an alert that says transferred. Transfer is continued custody under a new agency, not release to the community. Save the exact status and timestamp before calling the jail, because a later screen may display a new event. When the event is old, request the agency's maintained record rather than asking VINE to reconstruct a history it does not promise to keep.
Murray County VINE Release Alerts
Registration starts from the correct person's record. The live form controls which methods are offered, and choices may include telephone, email, or text. Use contact information that will remain active. VINE alerts are most useful when set before the expected event because the service is not promised as a permanent archive of a completed Murray County release.
- Select the notification or registration control on the verified custody record.
- Choose one of the delivery methods currently offered and enter the destination carefully.
- Repeat or confirm the phone number, email address, or text number when prompted.
- Create the requested telephone PIN. It confirms receipt and can stop repeat calls; it is not the person's jail PIN.
- Complete any email, text, or on-screen verification, then save the registration confirmation.
- Update the registration if the contact method changes, and read every transfer or release message in full.
The research notes that VINE has historically used a four-digit phone PIN, but the exact digit count must be checked in the current registration screen. For help with Minnesota VINE, call 877-664-8463. A caller should have the person's name and known custody agency ready, without assuming that support staff can supply a full historical release record.
Two Minnesota Release Alert Systems
Minnesota has two named notice layers. This is the distinctive local point for a Murray County lookup. Minnesota VINE and Minnesota Haven correspond to different custody types, so the right service changes when a county booking becomes a state commitment. VINE is for county-jail custody and release events. Haven handles notice for people sentenced to the Commissioner of Corrections who are in a DOC facility or under community supervision.
| Situation | Correct notice route | Next confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Murray or Lyon county jail | Minnesota VINE through VINELink | Holding jail's admission/release record |
| Minnesota state prison | Minnesota Haven, when notification rights apply | DOC Public Viewer or Central Records |
| Federal imprisonment | Not VINE or Haven | BOP Inmate Locator and the federal case |
Haven is not a general county-jail search. Its requests and contact information are confidential under the state's notice process. A VINE notice should not be expected to follow a person through every later DOC event. Once the county record shows commitment to the Commissioner, switch to the state-prison path.
Note: A Murray booking that ends in DOC commitment moves from the county VINE layer to the separate Minnesota Haven layer.
View Murray VINELink Entry
The VINELink search entry is the official starting screen for selecting Minnesota and finding one county-jail record.
The captured entry shows where the search begins. The actual person record and delivery options appear only after the state, person, and matching custody entry are selected.
Confirm Murray County VINE Releases
VINE notices depend on data supplied by participating agencies. A notice can lag the physical event, and a custody change can mean transfer rather than freedom. Read the full message and note the reporting agency, date, time, and exact status. Then ask the named jail a narrow question: did the person leave physical custody, on what date, and was the destination the community or another agency?
For a past Murray County jail event, follow the Sheriff's public-data procedure. Identify the person and approximate booking, and request the existing release, discharge, transfer, and destination fields. If Lyon held the person, a separate Lyon request may be needed. The Murray County board packet documents why that cross-county check is not optional in some cases.
Murray Releases Outside VINE
A state-prison record belongs in the Minnesota DOC Public Viewer. The viewer covers adults committed to the Commissioner who remain under DOC jurisdiction, including people released from prison but still on supervision. A final discharge can place a historical person outside that stated scope. For an unclear status or sentence date, use DOC Central Records and preserve the viewer's exact labels.
Federal imprisonment follows the BOP locator, not VINE. Court orders and case events are found through MCRO, but a release order does not prove that jail staff completed physical release. Minnesota VINE also does not decide whether a charge was dismissed. County record, court disposition, DOC status, and federal status each answer a different question.
A Murray County District Court record can explain why release was authorized. Its Register of Actions may show bail, release conditions, dismissal, sentencing, warrants, probation events, or later discharge. Yet the docket is not a live custody monitor. Holds, processing, transport, or pickup by another authority can follow the order. Pair the court event with the physical jail's timestamp before calling the person released.
If systems disagree, retain each timestamp. Ask the agency that maintains the operative custody record to explain the difference. Do not choose the newer-looking result without checking its scope.
